NATE Certification

Las Vegas NV - Mark Harrison, Royal Refrigeration and SNARSCA 2005 President, announced today a major initiative for the southern Nevada based HVAC/R contractor association to guide the NATE certification of at least one North American Technician Excellence (NATE) technician in each HVAC/R business in southern Nevada by the end of 2006.
Mr. Harrison recognized several organizations in assisting SNARSCA with the NATE technician initiative. Nevada Power Company by providing a $10,000 scholarship fund to assist technicians training.
The Community College of Southern Nevada has put together an eight-week training and certification program at SNARSCA’s request. The NATE program is so new that the class and certification dates are not on the CCSN web site or in the CCSN course catalogue.
Also providing training and certification testing will be the local distributors for Amana, Bryant, Carrier, Goodman Lennox, Trane, York and others.
Mr. Harrison stated that NATE is the nation’s largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians in the county.
NATE’s business goal is to train and certify better technicians through training and testing. Mr. Harrison said there are over 21,000 NATE certified technicians nationwide and seven international countries.

HVAC/R contractors know that NATE trained and tested technicians are skilled in the proper installation and servicing of sophisticated HVAC/R equipment.
The training includes reviews on how operate that equipment at peak efficiency to save energy. NATE certified technicians remain in the industry longer, do the job right the first time, and are believed to be more productive than non-certified technicians. NATE certification means fewer warranty returns and ultimately, a better bottom line for business owners.
Chartered in 1978, SNARSCA is the Southern Nevada Air Conditioning Refrigeration Service Contractor Association, Inc. Membership in this professional organization is limited to C-21 contracting firms and associates actively engaged in refrigeration, air conditioning and related work.
