Southwest Gas has made a strong financial and personnel commitment to the HVAC/R products industry. Many programs have been implemented to maintain and to facilitate customer usage of natural gas for space heating.
These programs include a call center and a web based HVAC contractor referral program plus a customer information program.
The customer information program is organized around an 1-800-654-2765 (1-800-OKGASOK) "Energy Services" call center.
Customers call for free furnace specification sheets and information from HVAC factories; receive estimated costs of furnace operation and referrals to local HVAC installing contractors.
The utility has staffed employees in Las Vegas and Phoenix, AZ and personnel in its Corporate Energy Services (Marketing) offices to assist the space heating industry.
Southwest has in some cases assisted with or joint ventured with new HVAC product development and production introduction, allowed distributors and contractors the use of utility customer mailing lists (without violating the federal privacy act) and co-sponsored factory training of area contractors in its facilities.
The utility sends various bill inserts, bill messages, direct mail and other printed materials to its customers promoting natural gas heating equipment.
Southwest Gas has been a part of the Southern Nevada community for over 54 years. Beginning with fewer than 300 customers acquired from a propane company in Las Vegas, Southwest Gas has grown to over 500,000 customers in Southern Nevada.
